An integrated environmental radiation monitoring network is an effective tool to monitor the environmental radiation of whole nation continuously. The central monitoring center continuously measures the spatial gamma dose rates continuously, and inform to the public if necessary.
Korea Institute of Nuclear Safety (KINS) operates IERNet that currently includes 120 posts installed on Korean mainland and on her islands. Monitored spatial radiation information is released to the public in real-time through internet. (Visit IERNet site)
Many IERNet posts include EFRD3300s to measure energy spectra as well as radiation does rate in order to estimate possible radiation sources.
